Friday, June 8 at 5:30pm ET...only on MAVTV
CORONA, CA (May 30, 2018) - Stock car racing fans mark the date, as the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will return to MAVTV on Friday, June 8, for a live telecast (starting at 5:30pm ET) of the Zomongo 200 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan.
Michigan is a ferociously difficult and blindingly fast 2-mile, D-shaped oval and a severe test of both driver skills and machines. This will be the eighth race of a 20 race championship season that so far has been a battle between young Southern California drivers Zane Smith and Sheldon Creed, both of whom drive for MDM Motorsports.
After 6 races Smith has three wins and a 15-point lead over Creed, and Riley Herbst of Las Vegas is in third.
Another ARCA star is Brandon Jones, a 21-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia. Jones is trying for a three peat after winning his second in a row at Michigan in 2017 when he finished 20.8 seconds ahead of reigning series champion Austin Theriault. In 2016 Jones had led 51 of the 100 laps and beat Chase Briscoe by 6.557 seconds.
Only two drivers have won three times at Michigan. Retired three-time series champion Tim Steele and Jeff Purvis.
This will be ARCA’s 37th event at the superspeedway in southeastern Michigan’s Irish Hills.
